What are ancient grains? Tell me more.
Ancient grains include sorghum, amaranth, teff, quinoa, millet and even unmodified wheat. These grains have remained unchanged through time and offer a range of health benefits. We use three naturally gluten-free, ancient grains as the basis of all our products — sorghum, amaranth and teff.

Are Smart Flour Foods’ products gluten free? Are they certified?
Yes! All of our products are naturally gluten free, as sorghum, amaranth and teff do not contain gluten and we do not use any other ingredients that contain gluten in our products. All of Smart Flour’s products are certified gluten free by the Gluten Intolerance Group.
Are ancient grains considered whole grains?
Yes! Sorghum, amaranth and teff are whole grains.
How is Smart Flour Foods’ pizza different than other gluten-free options?
It’s all about the ancient grains! Because we use whole grains (and not rice flour), our products are tastier than other gluten-free options, and the texture is also much more like conventional wheat-based products. Last (but certainly not least), ancient grains offer an elevated nutritional profile. Our products are high in vitamins and minerals like calcium and contain significant amounts of fiber.
Is Smart Flour only good for those who avoid gluten?
No, not at all! Our products are so tasty and nutritious that they’re great for everyone. In fact, we have many gluten-loving folks who also LOVE our products.
Is your pizza dairy free? Are they vegan?
Our gluten-free pizza crusts are also dairy free and vegan. Our retail frozen pizzas are not dairy free as we use real cheese. If you order one of our crusts in a restaurant, the staff can tell you about the specifics of the ingredients and toppings that they use.
Are your products soy free?
Yes, all of our products are soy free.
Are Smart Flour products certified non-GMO?
Our retail two-pack pizza crusts are Non-GMO Project Verified. You’ll find the Non-GMO Project seal on the front of the package.
Is your pizza vegetarian?
Our crusts are vegan, and our Classic Cheese and Garden Margherita pizzas are vegetarian. If you order our crust in a restaurant, the staff can tell you about the specifics of the ingredients and toppings that they use.
